Our board of directors are unique women from diverse walks of life. Board members typically serve 2 year terms. Each Junior League member has the opportunity to gain valuable experience as a board member if they so choose. Learn more about our current board below:

Amanda is an Independent Consultant, Regional Vice President with Arbonne International. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her family, cooking, reading and doing almost anything with a Starbucks!  She has been with the League for about 3 1/2 years and while there are so many things that drew her towards it and keeps her excited, her biggest passion is developing leadership in women. Chat with Amanda

Phalyn Chenard, President-Elect

Phalyn joined the Junior League of Edmonton in 2014 and is serving in her second term on our Board of Directors. Having lived in several cities across Western Canada, the Junior League is one of the main reasons why Phalyn feels at home in Edmonton. The League connected her with the community and gave her access to a network of like-minded women, which she now proudly refers to as friends. Phalyn works in the real estate industry and spends her spare time planning her next vacation (or 10), exploring Edmonton and catching up with friends.

Kemi Kufuor-Boayke, Secretary

Kemi joined the Junior League of Edmonton in 2015 after having her first daughter and looking for a  way to be involved in helping women and children in the community. She has met many passionate women within the community from various works of life that were also looking for ways to impact the community. In her full-time job, Kemi works at the University of Alberta as an accountant. When she is not volunteering or working Kemi can be found looking for the best travel deals for vacations with her family or speed walking through shops at West Edmonton mall often while pushing one daughter in a stroller and holding her 4 year old’s handChat with Kemi

Aileena is in the field of Human Resources, with a current specialization in Employee Relations. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hiking in the mountains and checking out local coffee shops & restaurants. She joined the league two years ago because she wanted to align herself with an organization of women who supported each other and who supported other organizations within the community by providing resources and funding. Sharon Ryuter, Communications Director

Sharon is a nonprofit professional working as the Manager of Events & Projects for a Capital Region capacity building organization. She spent her first placement in the League working as part of the Communications team and is excited to lead the helm with a great group of women. She joined the league two years ago because she wanted to spend her time amongst inspiring women who want to make a difference in the community and learn and grow together. In her spare time, Sharon enjoys reading, tweeting, volunteering, and living up to her self-proclaimed title of ‘brunch evangelist’.  Chat with Sharon

 

 

Amanda Adzich, Fund Development Director

 Amanda joined the Junior League of Edmonton in January 2016.
She is a positive and outgoing go-getter that enjoys socializing, event planning, and spending time with family and friends.  Amanda is a mom of 3,  to a 10-month-old son, Kayden, and two dogs, Luna and Blade. She is a wife to her amazing and talented husband, Kyle, and they have been married for 2 years but together for 10 years. Amanda loves being outdoors, warm weather, traveling,thrill-seeking adventures! Chat with Amanda

Laurel Phillips, Membership Director

Laurel is an information management professional working for the Government of Alberta. She joined the JLE in 2017 when she moved back to Edmonton after 3 years away. She was excited to find an organization that offered her the opportunity to work with a group of inspiring women and to make a difference in the community. Laurel’s first placement was as the Chair of the New Membership Committee. She is excited to continue working in the Membership area as Director. In addition to her work with the JLE, Laurel is also a passionate labour activist and currently sits on AUPE’s Young Activists Committee. Chat with Laurel

 

unnamedAnn Tweddle, Sustainer Advisor

Ann joined JLE in 1970  where her experiences over the next several years with the League were valuable training.  After going Sustainer she sat on the City of Edmonton Community Services Advisory Committee;  was a Director on  the Board of the United Way of Edmonton; served on the Canadian Advisory Council on the Status of Women and later the Alberta Advisory Council on Women’s Issues;  and was a  Public  Representative on the council of the Alberta College of Registered Nurses before leaving Edmonton in 1993 and rejoining JLE in 2009. Chat with Ann
