By Aileena Minhas and Rebecca Lee (Homes for the Holidays 2016 co-chairs)
We are well into the countdown for the 11th annual Homes for the Holidays and it’s been an amazing journey seeing things come together. From handing out invitation letters, sourcing homeowners, to walking through the schedule for home central; every step of the way has been propelled forward by the incredible group of women on the organizing committee. We truly believe none of this would have been possible without the efforts of this incredible team.
Our team started meeting in February, and with just over ten meetings we have tickets launched for a full-fledged event. We were really focused on sourcing sponsors, designers and florists, and homeowners early on. We were lucky to see success finding sponsors through the dedicated efforts of our sponsorship team pitching our fantastic holiday event when everyone in the city was just starting to enjoy the warm summer sun! Our search for homes led us from Crestwood, to Valleyview, and most recently into Glenora and Westmount. We are excited that we have five unique home and designer pairings this year for a spectacular event for our ticket holders.
At our very first meetings as a team, we had set some goals to bring to life some new ideas to keep the event fresh. We are excited that a number of those will come to fruition in a few short weeks, and we cannot wait to see how these add-ons will be received. We are excited to announce:
– An after-hours event: The Sparkling Tour, presented by Hillberg & Berk,
– Complimentary workshops and demonstrations hosted by a selection of sponsors and designers, and
– A brand new home central decorated by our league members.
We look forward to the buzz of the event weekend along with theenergy all volunteers will bring. This is a fabulous fundraiser in the city and our team is proud to play a part in continuing the tradition. Under two weeks to go!
